I hope you’re doing well! This is a super exciting post for me and one which I have been eagerly anticipating. I’m sure most of you will have seen that unicorns are everywhere; whilst I’ve not really joined in on this rainbow and sparkles cult one thing I’ve been very interested in is the makeup brushes. Honestly, they are the cutest things! That’s why when Unicorn Makeup Brush told me that they’d send me some brushes to review I was ecstatic! I thought I would share some first impressions of the brushes with you, I haven’t had a chance to use them yet but there will be another post going into detail about that.
The parcel arrived on Friday and let me tell you, I was so excited before I’d even opened it! Unicorn Makeup Brush’s very kindly sent me two 10 piece makeup brush sets; Louboutin Inspired and Galaxy themed unicorn makeup brushes. Personally, my favourite set is the galaxy themed brushes because they’re so OTT and extra that they sort of make you say ‘woah’. The Louboutin brushes are a lot more of a reserved unicorn, but I’m definitely not dissing them – they are the classiest makeup brushes I’ve ever seen! The parcel had only taken about a week to arrive, so considering these babies come from America they made it here pretty quickly.
Galaxy Makeup Brushes:
These are stunning brushes! The 10 piece set comes with the following brushes: foundation brush, blush brush, contour brush, stippling brush, powder brush, flat eye shadow brush, highlighter brush, eyeliner brush, crease blending brush and a concealer brush. Seeing as the brushes don’t have names or numbers I don’t 100% know which brush is which, although this isn’t really a downside to the brushes as I rarely use a brush for it’s intended purpose.
The design of these brushes is beautiful. They are an incredible ombre of pink, purple and blue. They are also a twisted handle that goes down into a point making it into a unicorn horn – hence the name. Whilst the brushes are really light weight they still feel like a reasonably good quality material. Synthetic hair is used for the brush material, I think these means they are vegan friendly as they are also animal cruelty free. The bristles themselves are white with a purple dip dye ending adding to the whole unicorn fantasy. Plus the hairs are so soft yet they seem like a dense enough material too use for applying and blending makeup.
The bigger brushes in this set are most appealing to me as I think they will be great for applying my base makeup. Having quite small eyelids might mean that I struggle with some of the smaller brushes that are meant for eyeshadow.
Louboutin Inspired brushes:
These are by far the classiest brushes I have ever seen, I love the fact that they are inspired by a luxury designer brand. They’ve definitely put a different spin on the unicorn brushes trend. The 10 piece set includes: fan brush, foundation brush, powder brush, angled blush brush, contour brush, concealer brush, eyeshadow brush, crease brush, smudge brush and a blending brush. Just like with the other set the brushes don’t have names and it isn’t easy to tell which is which.
The subtle unicorn design mixed with the classy designer brand just works so well. The quality and style is the same as the galaxy brushes its just the colouring and types of brushes included that is different in this set. The handle of these brushes is a glossy black with a black bristles which have been dip dyed pink. If you’re looking for a subtle way to get into this unicorn trend then these are going to be your calling.
In this set I am most excited to try out some of the smaller eyeshadow brushes as I currently only have two so can’t create a look with many colours. My only criticism of this set is the foundation brush (or what I think is the foundation brush) is quite flimsy and not something I would usually use to blend in foundation, it will probably be quite nice for blush though.
Overall First Impressions:
These brushes are stunning – I’ve said it so many times but seriously they are as magical and fantastic as I had expected. The OTT unicorn design of the galaxy brushes are definitely my favourite but I do love the Louboutin designed ones too. The qualtiy of the brushes are great and the bristles themselves feel so soft. I’m excited to try them out and see how they work but so far I’m impressed by these beauties!
