I hope you’re doing well? I’m a complete beginner when it comes to hair styling but I realised there are a few styles I’ve been playing around with lately. I thought I’d share these style with you because whether you’re a beginner or just wanting some quick ideas for work/school then this is a great post for you. The only skill you need to have is a basic three strand braid and a fishtale (which I explain) P.S. I don’t know the real names of these looks so I thought I’d give you my own!
- Halo Crown: This is basically two side plaits that meet at the back to make one. This is a half up, half down kinda look and has been one of my favourites for a couple of weeks now. I always use the hair in front of my ear to make the plaits and hold it in the direction I want the braid to go before I start plaiting. I tie them both off using clear elastics and then gently pull the segments apart to make fuller braids before taking them to the back of my head and tying it off with a hair band. You can leave the plaits together or take them apart to make a regular pony tail.
- An EXTRA ponytail: This uses the same skills from the first style but this time only plait on one side. Take the rest of your hair up into a ponytail and then add in the extra braided section. Either leave the loose end as a braid or untangle it to add more weight to the ponytail.
- Casual Fishtale: This is like the perfect minimal effort maximum effect kinda look. The braid is so simple once you know how and here’s how. Start by pulling all your hair to one side and split it into two sections. Take a small section of hair from the outside of one segment and cross it over the front to the inside of the other section. Repeat on alternating sides until you’ve gone down to the bottom, then tie the look off with an elastic. I love how delicate and complex this looks, like a braid you can gently pull sections out to give a thicker illusion to the braid.
- ‘Fake’ French Braid: I never have time to do a french braid in the morning so instead I do this almost fake kinda braid. I separate my hair down the middle as if I was going to do two french braids but instead I just do a really tight plaits starting behind my ears. This is also a great one to do over night when your hair is damp because if you take it out in the morning you’re left with cute beach/widely crinkled hair.
So there are the 4 quick and easy hairstyles that anyone can do! (Pictures taken on a lazy Sunday with no makeup and a bright blue bralette – don’t judge me) Do you use any or have some other easy suggestions? Let me know in the comments below.
