Hey Guys,
I hope you’re doing well? As you might remember from my last post, on the 6th July my boyfriend and I moved into our own flat. The Wifi went in on Friday so hopefully now I’ll be able to put some well needed time back into my blog. I’ve been away from a schedule for way to long so I can’t wait to get back into it all. But that’s future posts, in this upload I want to share my review of the Wet N Wild beauty products I picked up whilst in Florida. I’ve included links to the products on Amazon so hopefully all you Brits can get your hands on these products to!
Firstly, we’ll start with the MegaGlo highlighting powder. I went for the shade Golden Flower Crown because I really enjoy a warm golden glow for the summer months. I’ve heard a little bit of love for the shade Precious Petals so I was expecting something good from this product. This cost me $4.99 (£3.50ish) from CVS a US drugstore, by comparison the I Heart Makeup Golden Goddess highlighter is £4.99 in Superdrug – Wet N Wild is really on the lower end of the Drugstore price range.
Unsurprisingly, the packaging feels cheap and flimsy but it survived travelling so is evidently robust enough to keep in your makeup bag on the go. How long it holds up for will be questionable, for now though it’s doing well. The floral design imprinted into the powder is pretty and definitely adds a little something to a relatively simplistic product.
I used this product dry, over the top of my base makeup and applied it using a fan brush which is my usual routine for highlighters. I think this looked quite average if I’m honest; it added an almost natural glow which was pretty but I prefer a more blinding highlight. The product could be built up slightly but not to the blinding level I opt for. Weirdly, the product has a lot of glitter in it but yet this doesn’t make it have that blinding effect. Perhaps for an everyday look this would be a good option and I think for that purpose I’ll get a bit of use out of it. I thought rather than embarrass myself and try to take swatch pictures I’d show you a look I created using the product. BUY HERE
Another product I picked up is the Icon Eyeshadow palette in shade Rose in the Air. I loved the look of this palette because the 10 shades are all wearable warm tones and there is enough variety to create a wide range of looks. This was only $6.99 (£5ish) which means each individual shadow is about 50p! That’s even cheaper than Primark. By comparison the I Heart Revolution Choc Orange Mini Chocolate Palette has 8 warm tone shades for £6 so each shadow is about 75p meaning the Wet N Wild palette is again the cheaper option.
Similarly to the highlighter, the packaging is flimsy and cheap but it held up through travelling so isn’t going to break in your hands. What I love is that the palette is very sleek and small but as I said you can do a variety of looks, which makes this the perfect palette to travel with. The only two downsides of this packaging is that the shades don’t have individual names to help distinguish which is which and the low price point means that packaging is compromised and doesn’t include a mirror which could limit the usefulness of this as a travel palette.
I really enjoyed using these shadows, the pigmentation is really impressive and the shadows blend out nicely. I’ve done a couple of looks with this and haven’t needed to touch into my other palettes at all to get a complete look. The shimmer shade lives up to my expectations when applied directly with my finger, they are a little to transparent when used with just a brush and I don’t like to use my shadows wet so for me, finger application is the best option. Again I didn’t want to embarrass myself with attempting swatch pictures so instead I’ll just show you an eye look I created using this palette. BUY HERE
Finally, this is the product I was most excited to try because I’ve heard about it from several different beauty influencers. The Photo Focus foundation is just $5.99 (£4.50ish) even cheaper than my beloved Maybelline Fit Me which is £6.99. I went for the shade Soft Beige which is a little light for me at the moment because I have a bit of a tan from Summer, hopefully this shade will suit me for the majority of the year.
The packaging is pretty standard, with a glass bottle and plastic screw fit lid. There is no pump which I’m really not keen on, however there is a spatula style applicator which you can use to wipe the product onto your face – not very hygienic but okay, I’m going with it. I guess this applicator means that less will go to waste as it isn’t going onto the back of my hand, I’d have preferred a pump but for £4.50 I can’t complain too much.
I’m genuinely quite impressed by the formula of this product. It applies nicely with a good amount of coverage, I’d mark it as medium. It does take a little bit of work to blend it seamlessly but that might just reflect the fact that my brushes need a clean *Yes I’m gross*. I go on and on about the fact that I have oily skin but that really is a key factor that can make me love or hate a foundation. When I started to apply this it did feel quite thick which worried me, but it turned out fine. It didn’t feel heavy on my skin but I was aware that it was on my skin if that makes sense… I thought this product would be a little too light for me as that’s how it appears in the bottle, however the formula seems to oxidise because it actually suits my skin tonne at the moment well. I wore this for over 6 hours and it didn’t go any more oily than my usual everyday foundations, it’s common for me to have some visible oil on my skin that needs covering with powder again after about 4/5 hours. The Photo Focus foundation isn’t ground breaking but it will have a firm place in my collection and I’ll continue to use it as a daily product. BUY HERE

The shades in the eyeshadow palette look really similar to the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette. I read somewhere that Wet N Wild might be going to Beauty Bay so this review has been super helpful and I will definitely be keeping my eye out for the highlighter!

Yes I was thinking about doing a comparison with this palette and the ABH one! I really hope it does go on Beauty Bay! I linked the product but from Amazon and postage is annoying! xoxo
