Colourpop Give It To Me Straight Palette || First Impressions, Review & Eye Look

Hey Guys,

I hope you’re doing well? I’ve had this palette for a little while now and have only just gotten round to reviewing it because life got crazy after I came back from America. The Colourpop Give It To Me Straight palette was an easy buy for me because all the shades are warm tones and most are pinky/nudes so I knew I’d get a lot of use out of it. Sadly this palette is hard to get hold of in the UK unless you want to pay nearly twice the price on Amazon or order from a US site, pay shipping and risk paying import taxes!

Originally this come in a cardboard sleeve but I ditched that and have just kept the palette. The packaging is cardboard and opens and closes with a magnet. It feels really secure, surprisingly, and I think that other than getting very stained in a makeup bag this would be quite good to travel with. Even more so because it lightweight and thin. However, because Colourpop is a drugstore brand to keep their product on the affordable side, the palette doesn’t come with a mirror. This would be a little annoying if you planned to do your makeup on the go; this isn’t really a deal breaker with me though as I usually have a mirror in my hand bag anyway.

I love when shadow names match up to the palette name which is another reason why this palette was a love at first sight for me. As the name suggests this is a pretty sassy palette and the individual shadow names follow that same trend. Starting from top left and working across the names are; Matter Of Fact, Up Front, Straight Up, BS, Frank, Candid, Forthright,  Downright, Truth Hurts, Be Blunt, TMI, Actually. The palette has 12 shadows all together; 7 mattes and 5 shimmers.

I attempted a swatches picture which usually go horrible for me but I think this actually looks quite good. I picked out 5 of my favourite shadows to show you. The mattes and shimmers both swatched so well, they all felt so smooth to touch and the pigment pay of is impressive. I’ve honestly never been so impressed with a Drugstore palette and I’m even more upset than before that this is hard to get in the UK. Unlike most Drugstore palettes I’ve tired in the past the shimmer shades aren’t flaky and don’t crumble as you swatch them.

This is the first look I created using the palette and I’ll have a full tutorial on the look in a couple of days time so please make sure you are following my blog to look out for that! I think the shadows preformed really well and I couldn’t be more impressed. If you handed me this and told me it was from Two Faced or Anastasia I’d fully believe you.

I’ve been putting so much effort into my Social Media lately and I’d love for you to come and follow my journey over on Instagram – @Charliestarblogs

Give It To Me Straight Bare in mind that this palette is super hard to get hold of in the UK… I’ve found it on Amazon for £32 which seems crazy as this usually retails for $16. But you will get free shipping and there is no risk of extra custom charges when it arrives which there could be from sites like Ulta.
